Many of our clients require more space within their home to meet the day to day demands of a growing family. Our brief was to turn what was once a disused, damp cellar into a modern and sizeable additional reception/media room.
Tucked away neatly underneath the hallway stairs is a second staircase which leads you directly to our client’s newly formed basement. With plenty of natural daylight provided by a lightwell, the room is multifunctional and can adapt as the family’s needs change.
It was challenging for our client to create more space in their home. The house is situated within the conservation area, therefore, excavating underneath was an attractive option and made the most of the property’s footprint.
What our client said…
The new space has made a great difference to how we live our lives. The children use the room to entertain their friends, which we expect to continue into later years! We use it primarily as a den space with musical instruments, a cinema-style TV room for family movie nights, and a tranquil space to hide if family life gets too hectic. It has transformed the options we have for multiple family requirements, we are extremely happy.
